JESUS IS MY BEST FRIEND

Did you know that Jesus wants to be our Best Friend?

We praise Jesus, worship Him, and serve Him, But friendship is what Jesus wants most of all.

What makes someone a good friend?

A friend is someone who accepts you just the way you are, believes in you and encourages you. Someone who is trustworthy, who never forsakes you, who forgives your mistakes, who enjoys being with you, and who makes you laugh.

Jesus wants to be this way with us. He is not a far away God. He wants us to spend time with Him. He wants to be your very best friend, and He wants you to be His!

Jesus is the best of everything we look for in a friend.

The Bible shows that Jesus was "cool". People wanted to be around Jesus. They wanted to hang out with Him. They wanted to be His friend. Jesus' last message to His disciples was that He wants to be our friend. (John 15:15)

In this four week series we will learn about some of Jesus' friends from the Bible.

Lesson 1 ~ Peter

Jesus forgives our mistakes
Peter was one of Jesus' closest friends and disciples. Peter knew that Jesus was The Christ, Peter walked on water with Jesus, Peter was with Jesus on the mountain of transfiguration. Peter even cut off a guards ear when they arrested Jesus. Jesus warned Peter that he would deny Him. But Peter bragged that he would never deny being a follower of Jesus. However, on the night that Jesus was arrested Peter broke that promise. In fact Peter broke it more than once.

When the disciples ran off, Peter went to sit where he could watch where they had taken Jesus. He sat far enough away so no one would see him. Peter was very afraid and confused. He lied when a woman asked him if he was one of the men with Jesus. He said he did not even know who Jesus was. Later someone else asked him if he was with Jesus, but Peter again said he was not. The third time Peter denied knowing Jesus, a rooster crowed. Then Jesus turned and with a hurtful heart, looked at Peter. Peter remembered that Jesus had told him "Before a rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will have said three times that you do not know me."

When things go wrong, we need friends, don't we. Jesus needed friends, too! But they all ran away. And now even Peter, one of his closest friends was denying him. Peter felt so bad about what he did that he cried and cried. The wonderful thing is that Jesus forgave Peter and gave him a second chance. Read how Peter reacted after being forgiven by Jesus by clicking HERE. Because Peter was forgiven it made Peter even stronger in Loving Jesus. Peter became a mighty leader for Jesus Christ. He led many people to believe in Jesus Christ. His story continues in the book of Acts.

Jesus will forgive you of your mistakes. He loves you just the way you are. He shows love, grace, mercy and friendship.

God is My Best Friend

W ho is always there when I am depressed? Who is always there when I am angry, worried, embarrased, overwhelmed, and feeling guilty? When I feel like no one cares about me, who is there? When I feeling like ending my life, who picks me up and says "I love you, and it is not time for you to stop living?"

Who is always there when I am happy, excited, proud, and elated? Who is always there when I accomplish something great and there to help others?

Wow! When I think of those questions, I am in awe! I realize that I am never alone, even when I feel alone, because God lives in my heart. He has, since I accepted Jesus Christ at 22 years old. Even though I have failed him time and time again and turn my back on him a many, as well, He never leaves me. He continues to listen to me, he continues to answer my prayers (a lot of times I don't see His answers or He answers in a way I can't understand yet), He loves me unconditionally!!!!

As I age, I lo

ok back and see how much I have changed, for the good and the bad. I have matured and don't make some of the mistakes I use to. However, I still make some of the same mistakes and new ones. LOL But, I can look back and see how much my relationship with God has grown, by seeking Him more in my life. Sometimes, I feel far from God and that scare

s me. It is like I am in the middle of an ocean swimming to seek land and all I see is water. But, as I swim and swim and swim, I discover what I had been swimming for. God knows the struggle I went

thru. He knew it long before I was in the middle of the ocean. He did not let me drown and he never will!! Thank you, Father, for your mercy. Thank you for loving me and saving me from my sins. I ask you to please be with everyone in the EP community by comforting those who are feeling lost and defeated. Cover them with your unconditional Fatherly love. Also, I ask, if there is anyone out there that does not know you, Father, please reveal your Holy Spirit to them. In Jesus name, Amen.
